When someone asks us about a smile makeover, there is almost always more than one thing on the list: teeth that have drifted, a gap where a tooth used to be, front teeth that are worn or discolored. The phrase makes it sound like one treatment with one price. It is really a plan combining several treatments we offer at Modern Smiles, and the order decides how much healthy tooth you keep and how much you spend.

A makeover is a sequence, not a package

Each item on that list has its own treatment. What turns them into a makeover is planning them together, so every step sets up the next one instead of undoing it.

Every implant, aligner case, and veneer at our office is planned and delivered by the same doctor from consult to final result. On a single treatment that is a convenience. On a combined plan it is most of the point, because the person designing your veneers is the person who planned everything that came before them.

The order we usually plan in

Gum health and grinding first

Active gum inflammation or untreated grinding gets handled before any cosmetic work. Bonding porcelain over either one is how you end up doing the case twice.

Alignment before shape

If your teeth are crowded or rotated, veneers are an expensive way to disguise an alignment problem, and they require removing healthy enamel to do it. Invisalign first, then veneers only if you still want shape or color changed, is frequently the better and cheaper sequence. Once the teeth are straight, you may decide you want fewer veneers than you expected, or none. That is a legitimate outcome, and a cheaper one.

This stage depends most on you: aligners only move teeth while they are in, about 22 hours a day.

Missing teeth, planned from the crown back

Where a tooth is missing and a dental implant is the right replacement, we plan the crown first and work backward to the implant. In a makeover, that crown has to fit the smile you are working toward, not just the gap. The implant also needs time to integrate with bone: about three to four months from placement to final crown for most straightforward single implants, longer if a bone graft is needed. That goes on the calendar at the start, not halfway through. Here is what an implant consult involves.

Shape and color last

Porcelain veneers come last because they should be designed around teeth that are already where they belong. We design them on screen first, from scans of your own teeth, and the porcelain is hand-layered by a master ceramist. They are bonded to enamel, which is why conservative preparation matters so much. Veneers alone take several visits, and a makeover adds more, which is worth weighing when you choose an office.

Why there is no single makeover price

We do not sell a makeover package, because the treatments in one person's plan are not the treatments in the next person's. Each piece is priced on its own, and you get an itemized quote before starting, including any additional treatment your case needs. Our published prices are:

  • Invisalign: $4,500, covering the iTero scan, every tray in your series, any refinement trays, and your first set of retainers.
  • Single-tooth dental implant: $2,050 per tooth, an inclusive package covering the implant, the abutment, and the crown. Extractions, CT scans, and bone grafting cost extra if they are needed.
  • Porcelain veneers: $10,000 for a full arch of ten units. Smaller cases are quoted per unit.

A combined plan adds up, and that is what our payment estimator is for.
